Choir League Presents: The Shape of Things

"Echoes of Early America"

at The Federal Theatre

Time: 1:00pm     Day: Sunday     Doors: 12:00pm     Ages: All Ages     Price: $7 - $20

In a time when our country feels especially fractured and uncertain, music has a way of reminding us of our shared roots and deep connections. This concert invites you into that spirit of remembrance and reconnection by celebrating the rich and diverse musical history of the United States.

At the heart of the program is Shape Note Singing—a uniquely American tradition that is rough-edged, communal, and full of conviction. Its influence can be felt across genres of American music, and its powerful sound continues to bring people together. You’ll hear selections from the Sacred Harp songbook alongside unexpected pairings and surprises, creating an evening that is both historically grounded and refreshingly new.

Highlights include:

  • Holy Manna

  • Wondrous Love

  • Lord Build Me a Cabin

  • Black Water

The program also features original works by composer Adam Simon, adding a contemporary voice to this historic tradition.

Choir League invites you to come and experience music that is raw, joyful, and deeply moving—music that connects us to each other and to the generations who sang before us.
